Our Holiday to Tenerife – Tuesday 24th October 2017

Hey Everyone!

It has been a long, long while since I posted in my blog, so what is better than to return with a positive post about mine and Kayleigh’s first holiday together in Puerto De La Cruz, Tenerife.
Earlier this year me and Kayleigh booked a holiday for 8 days to Tenerife.
Theo went to my parents whilst Millie and Lola stayed at our home with Kayleigh’s mum who was house and dog sitting for us.
I really wish I would of done a Vlog for our first holiday together but I didn’t unfortunately, so this is what happened…

Wednesday 11th October
The day of our holiday. We woke up at midnight as we had to leave by 2am as our flight was at 6.35am. We were also flying from London Stansted, which was an hour away from our home. After all the stressful bit of luggage weighing, hand luggage checking, we was able to have a well deserved beverage at a Weatherspoon’s called The Windmill. Eventually it came to boarding our flight. I forgot how much I love flying, taking off being my absolute favourite! The flight was 4 hours and 40 mins long. When we arrived we was inside and it wasn’t until all checked in and setting foot outside we realised how hot it was. I could see palm trees everywhere, it was lovely. After a little confusion on who was doing our transfers we were pointed in the right direction and got onto a rather stuffy coach which had rubbish air con, this was a very hot and sweaty journey and it took around 1 hour 30 mins, long time!
When we arrived at our hotel we were blown away by its amazing entrance! After check in and finding our lovely big and spacious room for the 8 days, we walked down to the beach which was about a 5 minute walk and witnessed the beautiful volcanic black sand and Mediterranean sea. We then went back to the hotel and got dressed into our swimwear to check out the hotels swimming pool. We layed on the loungers for a few hours, then went upstairs to get ready for dinner. After dinner we walked down to the beach and watched the beautiful sunset, on the way back Kayleigh had a beer and I had an alcoholic smoothie at a little sea front café which was lovely and very refreshing. We then walked back to the hotel, and got ready for bed as we were exhausted from all day travelling.

Thursday 12th October
Waking up, we got showered and changed ready for the day and ready for the breakfast. My breakfast plate was the most random but it was actually alright, even the coffee was pretty nice. We decided to go to a garden which we got a taxi to, it was called Jardin Botanico (Botanical Gardens). It was €3 an adult to get in which we thought was reasonably priced. The gardens were very tropical with a few big ponds, so it was a lovely little garden full of nature and tropical plants. Kayleigh and I decided to have a little wonder around the area after we had finished at the gardens. We then found a little café called Mini Golf Club which had a little mini golf in its beer garden. We actually only went in there to play Mini Golf. We then went on to find a park which contained waterfall’s, we were searching in this one park for ages and found no waterfall’s, so I made Kayleigh go over to a Spanish couple walking their dog to ask them, I equipped her with pictures of the place we were trying to find and they were very helpful and pointed us in the right direction. So a little further walk down the road and an alley way we found the sign Parque Taoro. It was beautiful, far more amazing then I imagined. It had a massive waterfall going into two little ones into a big one and two other little ones to the bottom. It was so beautiful. The views from the public park were amazing. We could also see the adventure pool place Lago Martianez which we planned to visit on our holiday. On our way back we found some little shops where we spend a fair amount on presents for ourselves and my parents for looking after Theo, and Kayleigh’s mum for looking after Millie and Lola. The walk back was long and tiresome but we done it, with me resting many times in between as my energy levels are still rubbish, so this was extremely difficult but so proud of myself for doing it. We were boiling hot and so when we got back to our hotel we got our swimwear on and took our first swim in the pool, which was rather cold but so refreshing, and eventually you get used to the temperature anyway. We then drunk several Pina Coladas which were AMAZING by the pool. We got changed ready for dinner. We then got ready for the evening entertainment. This was the night we met the lovely British family Laura, Phil and their two beautiful children Alfie and Jovi. They were the first British family we had met since being in the hotel, so it was so nice to have met them! Kayleigh and I got very very drunk. We ended up going to bed pretty late, and then suffering the next day…

Friday 13th October
We woke up hungover but ready to go to a famous zoo and sea life place called Loro Parque which had Orcas, Dolphins and many other different animals and loads and loads of Parrots. The Orca and Dolphin show made me somewhat emotional I guess because they are beautiful creatures that you don’t get to see in England and I did feel sorry for them knowing about the background of the Orca’s. We had the most weirest lunch, was a hard french bread kind of roll with just ham and cheese, no butter, no salad cream. It actually broke my tooth gem off of my tooth lol. We missed loads of the park as we decided we could do better winging it then using the map, clearly we were wrong. We paid to come back for a second day as it was just €13 an adult rather then the €35 an adult it was the first time. We then got back and got changed, laid on the bed woke up then fell back to sleep completely missing our dinner. So we literally didn’t spend the evening doing anything but sleeping.

Saturday 14th October
We felt pretty refreshed in the morning so we got up ready to go and have breakfast and then we were sitting by the pool at 9.30am. This was also the first time ever we experienced a hot breeze, like it was so hot. We had a game of pool in the games room, and Kayleigh won. We also played several card games by the pool, I do love card games especially on holiday! We went for a swim in the outside swimming pool but Kayleigh wanted to try out the indoor swimming pool which was a different company from our hotel so it was an extra cost of €8 a day. So we spent €16 on 3 hours of swimming, going in the Jacuzzi and trying out the Sauna.
We had several problems with our hotel lock, having to go down to receptions several times to refresh our cards except this time the cleaner couldn’t even get in our room so we called for assistance and it turned out it was our lock and so it had to be changed.
We sat on the balcony drinking cocktails and eating our pick n mix that we got from Loro Parque the previous day.
After dinner we went for an evening stroll and came across the little castle on the beach as well as Playa Jardin with its stacked rocks and pebbles which was an amazing thing to see as I had never seen anything like it before. We even had a little look in the castle which was still open at 8pm and it was also free to get into!
We got changed ready for the evening entertainment. We found Laura, Phil and the kids and sat with them. The show was actually pretty good and funny. A man that had horns all over him who was making songs, a juggling man…I think it was called circus or something but it was actually pretty entertaining. When the show finished at 11pm we went back up to our hotel room to get ready for bed.

Sunday 15th October
We decided to go to Lago Martianez for the day. Although I was spoken to rudely and abruptly in Spanish for being in the disabled bit and asked to move on after failed efforts of trying to tell them I am in fact disabled and I am a kidney patient. We moved on and found a better place. We explored the art within the sea water pools. Checking out the Volcano which squirted out water, caves, and different art bits and features. We settled for the pool furthest away, one of the pools was basically empty. After swimming in the refreshing salty pools we decided to go to a restaurant called Costa Martianez and we had a pizza and chips, which was pretty amazing. When we returned to the pools the tide had come in and the empty pool was no full and the main pools a lot deeper. We went for a swim in the pools and I was unable to touch the floor which was pretty funny, it was also pretty difficult to swim in as with the amount of salt from the sea water it would just make you float upwards. It was pretty funny. After we had enough of swimming, we got changed and decided to explore the are we were in. We found a casino which I put €1 in a fruit machine, had no idea what I was doing because it was all in Spanish but some how I won €7 lol. We went on to explore the shops which were like mini Debenhams. Quite nice but round about the same priced you would pay in the UK. We got a taxi back to the Hotel.

Monday 16th October
Today we got ready and went to the beach as we were planning on swimming in the sea but unfortunately the sea had a red flag so no one was allowed to swim in it. It was lovely just sitting on the sand despite some guys tried to sell us towels several times! We eventually went back to the hotel. We spent the afternoon at the swimming pool.
Kayleigh had asked me to wash my hair and have it down, so I agreed as I prefer my Barnet down lol. It is right past my bum now so its a pretty impressive Maine! I chose a beautiful dress which was net at the top and beautiful flowy coral colour at the bottom. Kayleigh was acting very suspicious and I kind of knew something was up as she kept nervously giggling and her cheeks were rather rosy.
We walked down to a quiet part of the beach where we sat looking out to the beautiful sea. She handed me a note with SK all over it, she told me to walk up the beach reading this beautiful romantic love letter about how she loved me, how she wanted a family with me and how she wanted to make me her wife. I turned round and she had laid a little scarf for me to sit on, I sat down and she giggled. I told her the letter was lovely and it made me all emotional and warm and fuzzy inside. Kayleigh then got down on one knee and asked me to marry her, of course I said yes! She then gave me a little wooden plaque that said ‘I love you Sabrina’ and an engagement survival kit, as we have always had banter in our relationship. She then had some plastic champagne flutes and a little bottle of champagne and we cheered to our future together. We walked back hand in hand to the hotel as fiancées! We came back to have our dinner pretty late and then we met up and celebrated with our British friends and enjoyed the hotels evening entertainment! We were roped in to playing 3 rounds of party games, it was all fun but both of us lost lol!

Tuesday 17th October
Today was our second visit to Loro Parque but this time we went with Laura, Phil, Alfie and Jovi which was lovely. Clearly Laura’s map reading skills were on point as we got to see everything, and not miss a single thing! We sat closer to the Orca show, right next to where the Orcas come out and it was amazing! We got closer at the Dolphin show and a better view at the Sea Lion show. We had lunch whilst we were there, handmade pizza! It was a brilliant day! When we came back we went and got changed ready to go for a nice swim as we were all so hot and sweaty,  and got changed and chilled and met the others for tea in our hotel. We then went up and got ready for the evening entertainment.

Wednesday 18th October
Today was our last full day so we decided to go back near Lago Martiniaz and have a further look at shops, as we had previously passed a shopping mall called Centro Commercial Pirámides de Martiánez. The mall was actually alright and we bought a couple of stuff, but the best part was having a gorgeous BURGER KING! We then went to a Casino. We walked up the road to see what else we could find and ended up walking through all the different streets, with all different shops, cafes and restaurants. We walked passed all the street art graffiti and ended up further from our hotel then we originally started so we got a taxi and realised we weren’t far away at all, haha! We went back for a well deserved beverage and then got ready to meet our friends and go for a swim before leaving the next day. The evening entertainment was pretty good it was a female magician which was also quite comical as she did everything by actions only and her facial expressions were hilarious. We then shared cuddles with the lovely people we met, two British families and went back to our room…we done the majority of the packing then had an early night.

Thursday 19th October
In the morning we had to get up and get ready by 5am as we needed to pack everything before getting our coach at 630am the coach had good air con, but a toddler was sick on it so it stunk out the whole bus, and we were on it for over 2 hours as we had to collect everyone to take them to the airport. Once arrived at the air port and getting checking in out of the way we got another BURGER KING and shopped a bit too. The flight back was a nightmare as there was only one working toilet so there was constant queuing, arguments and god knows what but 4 hours and 40 mins later we arrived in cloudy England! We went from 30 degrees to just 13 so it was a little shock to the system but not as bad as we thought. Kayleighs Mum collected us from the airport along with two of our pooches Millie and Lola, they were so excited to see us! When we got home Kayleigh’s mum made us casserole! We had an early night because we were shattered! Plus we wanted the next day to hurry up  we could collect our little boy Theo!

It was an amazing holiday with so many good memories and adventures shared! It was great!

It has been a long long while – Wednesday 3rd May 2017

Good Evening,

It has been a long while since I blogged. I guess I am trying to embrace life as much as I can that I just don’t come on here much to blog.

I am currently suffering with a sore throat and swollen gland, no idea what happened there.

Anyway, kidney life for me is still on the up. My last appointment I was given the heads up for carveries and things that I couldn’t eat at the very beginning of transplant. Mum recently had an appointment to see how she is doing with her one kidney, and her kidney is at a function of around 55% which apparently is okay. The last thing I would want is to see my Mum in the position that I was in, its awful.

My energy levels aren’t great, I still suffer with restless leg syndrome too. Many symptoms I had when I was ill. I still have but obviously I am a lot better than what I was. I am worried if I am made to go back to work as I feel like I couldn’t even last a day with my energy levels.

I have check ups every 3 months or so at the minute and my next appointment is next Tuesday on the 9th to find out how things are going. I have eaten so badly recently as my partner and I went away for a few days to Thorpe Park, LEGOLAND and Windsor Castle and their is not a healthy restaurant in site at such places and so its been pretty much fast food every day. We did come back to something amazing and that was collecting or baby Chihuahuas, yay.

I haven’t actually written here at all. My Girlfriend Kayleigh and I took the plunge and got a house together. I no longer live in Norwich, Norfolk anymore but I live in Suffolk (Location Disclosed) in our lovely 2 bedroom Victorian terrace house. Its been an amazing time so far. 20th March was our move in date so it will be a grand 2 months this month since we moved into our house.

Our living room is Mexican Corona Furniture theme, and the colour scheme is Purple, Black, Cream and Charcoal. It all goes together really well. Our Dining room also has the same colour scheme and Mexican Corona Furniture. The kitchen is cream, black and chrome. Our bedroom is Shabby Chic design, Bathroom is sailing boats, life houses beach theme and our spare room is Brown Furniture and red, cream colour scheme.
Our garden was a mess, and had thousands of weeds so Kayleigh and I had completely blitzed the garden, discovering patio and flower beds, we pulled up a massive bush and over time killed and pulled up weeds and stinging nettles. We had the help from Kayleigh’s Grandparents to take all the rubbish to the dump. Kayleigh and I bought some wood chip and neatly covered the flower beds, we then bought a selection of pretty colourful flowers and potted them. The garden is looking very tidy, and we can’t wait to do a BBQ out there soon.

Many people have come to visit us in our new home and everyone says how lovely and quirky it is and has such a lovely happy homely feel to it. Yay, for no negative energy!

I must actually bring this down as on the 10th March we lost our Chihuahua Milo, I am not sure if I ever blogged about him but he literally was my everything, he was my shadow and I took him everywhere. I needed him as much as he needed me but as you know life throws some shitty things at you and he was taken away from me and Kayleigh way too soon.

Kayleigh and I have almost been together 9 months now, I can honestly say I am totally in love with her. She is everything I ever wanted. She is fiery but romantic, loving, and fun and I am happy when I am just in her company (which is everyday now lol) I def can see us getting married and having children in the near future, we talk about it all the time. We are totally loved up, since moving in together it is like we are in our honeymoon period all over again yet this time we are so in love with each other. Kayleigh has become one of the most affectionate people (baring in mind she wasn’t before lol) she always wants cuddles lol, proper little princess. I love her dearly and honestly couldn’t imagine my life without her.

I am currently sat here with our dogs asleep on the sofa next to me waiting for Kayleigh to arrive home as she is on a late today. I just want to get in bed and go to sleep to be honest lol.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my catch up. I will blog soon.

Thank you.

New Year Resolutions for 2017

Hey Everyone,

So I had previously written a blog about 2016 but this blog is going to be about 2017 and my new years resolutions or what I want to achieve this year.

For me this new year is slightly different.

It is the first year I entered where I am not ill or relying on dialysis to keep me alive.

People are always complaining at the phrase “New Year, New Me” To be perfectly honest, you will always be you but you can be a better you. There are always improvements that you can make to improve you as an individual.

New Years Resolution’s mean a lot to me, more than those who throw out their New Years Resolution’s and never do them, or stick by them for so long and then give up and spending the rest of the year regretting that they gave up their resolution’s. I believe you should only make New Years Resolutions if you’re going to accomplish them. Don’t set yourself resolutions that you know you won’t accomplish.

For the last 2 years I have either been ill with Chronic Kidney Disease and then Kidney Failure or then relying on dialysis. I then had a kidney transplant in April 2016 given by my beautiful mother, so the majority of 2016 has been a year of recovery.

It has been the most hardest journey I have ever been in, and sometimes I do wonder how I made it through. But I have and I am so proud of myself that I have gone through one of the most traumatic things in my life and I’ve come out the other side with all my marbles. Yes, I have lost my confidence, become more anxious and sometimes I am a hormonal mess. Of course such a big thing is bound to effect a person in one way or another and if I am perfectly honest it has effected me but this is why my new years resolutions are to improve myself, and my abilities.

Towards the end of 2016 I started to rebuild a life and slowly rebuild my confidence and independence and also get back a social life, which I lacked for practically the whole of 2015 and the majority of 2016.

Now what resolutions have I decided on do you ask? Well I will tell you what my resolution’s are and why I have chosen them.

  1. To be healthier
I want to lose weight, eat more healthier and exercise more. Previously I had never had the energy to do all these things, but as I slowly regain my energy I want to be able to get my mind and body in the best health it can be. Plus I have to be healthier to prolong my transplanted kidney. So this is a MUST!
  2. To re-start my driving lessons and work towards passing within this year
Doing my driving lessons and being able to drive will open up a massive gate of opportunity. I think it will also help my independence, confidence and it will mentally challenge me and improve me as a person in so many ways. I  want to work hard into hopefully passing this year. My first lesson has already been booked for this month, and I literally can’t wait.
  3. Get a Car
I will be purchasing a cheap car, and insure myself on it so I can drive with my dad or Kayleigh in the car even before I pass my driving test. I think the more practise I have the better I will be. I also think this will push me into passing, looking at my little car that I will want to drive.
  4. Improve Confidence
I want to improve my confidence, I think with the rest of my resolutions this will be accomplished. It is something I really did lose a lot of since being unwell.
  5. Improve Independence
I want to also improve my independence. I relied on my parents a lot to look after me as I was unable at the time to look after myself, and doing these other resolutions will also help me accomplish this.
  6. To return to work
I would like to return to work this year, I need to focus on this mainly after my year check up in April. I need to find a job that will fit my health, as obviously since having a transplant I can’t do jobs that I used to be able to do, so I need to really look into what I can do and apply for jobs. It’s an overwhelming thought but it has to be done, and the outcome will improve my independence and confidence.
  7. Remove toxic and negative people from my life
I don’t need toxic or negative people in my life, after all I have been through a horrendously negative time, so from now on I will only surround myself with people who are positive, or at least are there for me. No part time friends.
  8. Go on Holiday
It has been years and years since I went on Holiday. There is nothing I need more than a Holiday. I will definitely go on Holiday this year! After all I think I deserve it!

I could go on to say that I would love to move out into my own place and all of that but for now I am keeping to resolution’s that are realistic and ones that I can accomplish. Positive thinking, positive outcomes.

This is a clean slate. New 365 page story, a new chapter, another chance to improve my life. I can’t wait for a new journey with my girl and I can’t wait to see where me and her end up together.

A very happy new year to you all, and I will blog very soon!

Looking back at 2016

Hey Everyone,

It has been a while since I have blogged but as it is now a new year I have took this opportunity to recap on 2016.

I started 2016 with me being on dialysis waiting for a transplant which we had got the date for 12th April 2016, I started it positively but was also petrified for the following months, especially when it got closer and closer to the transplant date.
My transplant was carried out in the April, and I must admit it was the most painful and hard experience of my journey so far. You can never imagine the amount of pain or the emotional strain you go through when going through such a massive operation. It was hard, even harder seeing my mother in pain to give me a second chance of life. I am forever grateful for the gift she has given me and I still count my lucky stars for mum because if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be writing this blog now.

The recovery process was painful and long and it really did take a lot out of me and mum. The whole family in fact. The little things like walking, getting out of bed, laying down become massive tasks, and painful ones at that but day by day it got better and better.

The following months were me and mum recovering slowly but we got there.

I had a relationship break up in July, it was hard at the time but eventually you get over it and move on. Time is always the biggest healer.

The following months I started building my social life, going out with old and new friends and trying to rebuild confidence and independence that I had lost through the year of being ill and recovering.

I started seeing my new girlfriend Kayleigh in August. We had known of each other for around 2/3 years, but had only started talking again around May time. We had always had a flirty friendship. Meeting her in August we realised there was something there and our relationship blossomed. We went on some amazing adventures. Colchester Zoo, Clacton, Thorpe Park, Brighton and went to a music festival called Sundown. The last couple months we have been through a rocky part of our relationship. There is no doubt that we love each other. I am glad to be starting 2017 with her by my side. I can’t wait to have a fresh year and journey with her. We have so many more spontaneous adventures to go on.

I have not gone through my year month by month but just the main parts of what happened in 2016.

I will be writing a new blog on my new years resolutions and what I have planned for 2017.

Major update, it’s been a while – Tuesday 4th October 2016

Hey everyone,

Well it’s been sometime since I last done a blog entry and A LOT has happened in my life since my last post.

On my health update… Everything is going as well as it can other than recent results shew abnormal liver results which I’ve been told is nothing to worry about and can genuinely be put down to my medication. I am still on the same amount of anti rejection but there is talks of taking it down a dosage which is good. I will try and update you when I know more after my appointment on the 11th. After my stent removal it was pretty uncomfortable and very stingy for about a week but now I feel great almost normal which is a word I haven’t used for about 3 years or so.

My energy levels aren’t that great still sometimes but I’ve done some amazing things as of recent.

My relationship with Hannah broke down, this is not me bashing her for what’s happened but just announcing that this relationship has ended and both of us have moved on and gone our separate ways…

I have a new girlfriend, Kayleigh. Kayleigh was my friend years before and we lost contact but got back in contact this year and ended up meeting up and things just happened. They say the best things happen unexpectedly. She has been to all my main appointments with me since being with me, and it’s nice to have someone make you smile as much as she makes me smile. We’ve done some great things together. We’ve been to Clacton, Colchester Zoo and the other week we went to Thorpe Park which was such a awesome day, we also have so many more adventures to plan so it’s all very exciting and deffo in our honey moon period haha. We’ve been together 2 months on the 14th but have been friends on and off for around 3 years!

Anyway this is pretty short and sweet but wanted to just update the main bits of my life and I will try my best to update more frequently!

Thank you for always being the best viewers and your support and encouragement has been amazing!

Thank you
